I want the right to choose

Ala carte programming

Every month Dish Network sends me a card to put in my reciever with the programming choices I have paid for. Why are we forced to choose generic programming? I should be allowed to choose the channels I want to get and not be forced to get the $60 a month package because that one is the one with the 2 channels I want. They send me the monthly card, they can easily program it with my seperate choices.

We only watch about a dozen channels outside of the locals. To get the 2 channels I want to watch, I need to buy the America's 200 package. I don't give a rip about the music channels, that is what the radio or iPod is for. I don't want all the goverment or lifestyle channels. I don't need the spanish channels. When will they start offering the choice of your favorites that YOU pick?

There should be a choice of say locals + 25 channels of your choice for $25 or whatever. Maybe I want Speed, Foxnews and the Food Network. Why do I have to get NFL and NBA in a sports package when I don't like the NBA? Why do I have all the music channels? They say over 200 channels and 100 are simply music. I want to listen to my local stations.

I think the first satellite company that bring forth a package like that will swell their customer base... as long as it is a reasonable price.

I agree that there should be a choice in what channels you get. If the package remains under a certain number say 25 channels then the customer should be able to choose those channels for an affordable price per channel. Our family watches at the most 7 channels outside the local channels. I think that this has not been offered because there are many channels that are getting money from the cable and dish providers that would not survive if a choice was offered.
